First game between Czechs and GB brings hundreds of fans

27. 6. 2019 | Kateřina Hamplová
The opening game ended with a very clear result of 13-0 for the Czech Republic. A huge part of the match was the hundreds of young fans in attendance, mainly from local primary schools. The stands full of excited children were covered in big slogans with flags and the whole atmosphere was spectacular.

The Czech juniors were very effective on offence and they went to their first game for a victory. "We said to each other that we have to win this game and also enjoy it, which is very important for us," said Kristýna Kaltounková, who scored four goals.

On the other hand, the British players were quite unlucky not to score any goals. "It´s quite new for the girls, they haven´t played anything like this before, but I am very proud of them. We are trying to stay positive and we don´t expect great scorelines. I hope that the girls can get some experience at this tournament," said one of the British players. "The fans were amazing! We didn´t expect a high amount like this."

Children came from many primary schools here in Česká Třebová and they were also able to compete for which fan slogan was the best. After the game, they moved outside, where two stands with mini-games were ready for them. They could try how to shoot properly and score a goal. "I really enjoyed the game because I like ball hockey a lot and it was really fun," said one of the pupils.
